Lincoln County, located in the great state of Kentucky, has a rich history that dates back to its formation in 1780 as one of the three original counties by the Virginia Legislature, alongside Fayette and Jefferson counties. The county was named in honor of General Benjamin Lincoln, a Revolutionary War hero known for his involvement in important campaigns such as the Siege of Charleston in 1780 and the Siege of Yorktown in 1781.

In the early days of its formation, Lincoln County's boundaries spread across much of what is now Kentucky and Tennessee, before the region's rapid growth led to subdivisions and the creation of several new counties. Stanford, the county seat of Lincoln County, was founded in 1775 by Benjamin Logan and is the second oldest settlement in Kentucky.

Agriculture played a significant role in the county's economy, and it became particularly known for its production of hemp and tobacco. The development of infrastructure, such as railways and roads, became vital to the growth of commerce and transportation in the area.

A fun fact about Lincoln County is that it is home to the beautiful Cedar Creek Lake, the second-largest state-controlled lake in Kentucky. Completed in 2002, this 784-acre lake serves as a major attraction for outdoor enthusiasts and provides various recreational opportunities, such as fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing.
