Kentucky State Motto: United we stand, divided we fall
Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Kentucky State Quarter

The Kentucky state quarter was issued by the United States Mint in 2002. The design of the quarter was created by Frank Morris and features a horse, a frontiersman, and a statesman, with the state motto, "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" inscribed on the coin's face. The horse is a symbol of the state's horse racing heritage, while the frontiersman represents the state's historical status as a gateway to the West. The statesman is a representation of the state's leadership in politics and government. The state flower, the goldenrod, is depicted in the background, and the state bird, the cardinal, is featured on the reverse. The quarter also features the state's name, "Kentucky", and the date of admission to the Union, "June 1, 1792".

The second Kentucky State Quarter

The Kentucky National Park quarter was first released on August 30th, 2021 as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters program. This program was initiated by the United States Mint in 2010 to honor 56 national parks and other national sites around the United States and its territories. The Kentucky quarter features the Mammoth Cave National Park, located in the rolling hills of south-central Kentucky. The reverse of the quarter features a scene of two tourists standing in the entrance of Mammoth Cave, with the words "Mammoth Cave" inscribed above them. The date of the coin's release, "2021", is inscribed at the bottom of the coin. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States, with the words "United States of America" inscribed above him.

Mammoth Cave National Park is a World Heritage site, and is the longest cave system in the world. The park is home to hundreds of different species, including the endangered Kentucky cave shrimp and the endangered Indiana bat. The park was first established in 1941, and since then it has been visited by millions of people who come to explore the cave's winding passages and vast chambers.

The Kentucky quarter is a reminder of the importance of preserving our natural resources and national parks. Additionally, the coin symbolizes the connection between the people of Kentucky and their beloved Mammoth Cave National Park. The coin also serves as a reminder of the importance of tourism and recreation in the state of Kentucky.
