Lincoln Parish is a vibrant region in the great state of Louisiana, established on February 24, 1873. The parish was named in honor of President Abraham Lincoln, who led the United States during one of its most tumultuous periods, the Civil War. The formation of Lincoln Parish was the result of dividing Bienville and Jackson parishes, which aimed to create a better and more populous region for its residents. Covering an area of about 472 square miles, Lincoln Parish is home to a rich cultural and historical heritage.

The city of Ruston serves as the parish seat and was founded in 1883 by Robert E. Russ, a prominent local businessman and landowner who donated 640 acres of his property to develop a town. Ruston has since evolved as a significant hub for education, commerce, and culture in northern Louisiana. Louisiana Tech University, an esteemed institution of higher learning, is also situated in Ruston and was established in 1894.

One fun fact about Lincoln Parish is its unique annual community event called "The Louisiana Peach Festival." Since 1951, the festival has celebrated the region's richness in peach agriculture and boosts local tourism. Thousands of visitors come to Ruston every summer to enjoy peach-themed activities, food, crafts, and entertainment. This iconic festival reflects the importance of agriculture in the parish's history and fosters interconnectedness amongst the local community members.
