Union Parish, located in the great state of Louisiana, was formed on March 13, 1839, as one of the 64 parishes of the state. The parish was created from the Ouachita Parish, and it is situated in the north-central part of Louisiana. Farmerville, the parish seat, lies along the banks of Lake D'Arbonne. Union Parish is home to a rich and vibrant history, which includes its influence on American agriculture and industry.

The region was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Caddo and Choctaw, before European settlers made their way to the area during the 18th and 19th centuries. Initially, the land was used primarily for farming and timber production, with cotton being the main cash crop. Over time, other agricultural products like corn and soybeans also thrived in the parish.

During the Civil War, Union Parish contributed soldiers to the Confederate Army, and the area saw minimal combat. Following the war, many former slaves settled in the region and became sharecroppers, contributing to the growth of the local economy.

A fun fact about Union Parish is related to its gorgeous nature and outdoors opportunities. The parish features several natural attractions, including Lake D'Arbonne State Park, a perfect destination for fishing, camping, and hiking, where visitors can enjoy the scenic landscape of rolling hills and dense pine forests.
