2. The name "Chaska" is derived from a Dakota word which means "junior" or "younger brother". Legend has it that two Dakota chiefs were disputing over the name of a river, and one of them referred to the other as "Chaska," presumably because he was the younger of the two.

3. Chaska is known for its strong sense of community, with a wide range of events and activities throughout the year. Some popular events include the Chaska River City Days festival, the Taste of Chaska food and drink festival, and the Curling Club's Annual National Bonspiel.
