Carver County, located in the great state of Minnesota, is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington Metropolitan Statistical Area, also known as the Twin Cities region. It was established on March 3, 1855, and named in honor of Captain Jonathan Carver, an English explorer who sought to discover the Northwest Passage in the late 18th century. Sitting to the southwest of Minneapolis, Carver County spans approximately 376 square miles and is rich in history and a mixture of urban and rural landscapes.

Several Native American tribes, including the Dakota Sioux, once inhabited the region before European-American settlers arrived. The Treaty of Traverse des Sioux was signed in 1851, which resulted in the relocation of the Dakota Sioux and opened the region for settlement. Attracted by fertile farmlands and the abundance of natural resources, many German, Swedish, and Norwegian immigrants settled in Carver County.

Carver County's economy was initially driven by agriculture. Today, the county hosts a diverse economic spectrum that includes healthcare, manufacturing, education, and high-tech industries. The city of Chaska, the county seat, lies on the Minnesota River and showcases numerous historic buildings and landmarks that reflect the region's strong architectural heritage.

Fun Fact: Carver County is home to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, a 1,200-acre horticultural garden and arboretum that houses over 5,000 plant species and serves as a research, conservation, and recreational facility. It is a regional hotspot for visitors seeking beautiful displays of flora and engaging exhibits, blending both nature and art.
