Le Sueur County, located in the great state of Minnesota, was established on March 5, 1853, and named after Pierre-Charles Le Sueur, a French explorer and fur trader. The county is part of the Southern Minnesota River Valley and covers an area of 474 square miles.

In the early years, Le Sueur County was primarily settled by European immigrants, predominantly German, Czech, and Irish settlers, who were attracted to the fertile lands in the area that offered vast opportunities for farming and the lumber industry. Over time, it became an agricultural hub, with historical records indicating that the area was once known as the "Garden of Minnesota" due to its abundant crops and fertile soil.

Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, Le Sueur County has experienced significant changes and growth, with the establishment of various towns and cities such as Le Center, which was named the county seat in 1876. Railroads further contributed to the economic development of the area, connecting the county to other parts of the state.

One fun fact about Le Sueur County is that it is home to the Jolly Green Giant statue in the city of Le Sueur, a nod to the giant's origins in the Minnesota Valley Canning Company, which had a pea-packing plant in the area. The company would later become the multinational food corporation General Mills after several transformations. The Jolly Green Giant statue, standing at over 55 feet tall, is a tribute to the county's rich agricultural history and celebrates the importance of peas in the area's development.
