Morrison County is located in the central part of the great state of Minnesota. Established on February 25, 1856, the county was named in honor of William Morrison, an early fur trader and Minnesota pioneer who had significant contributions to the growth of this region.

Covering an area of 1,153 square miles, its population has grown gradually since its formation. The 2020 census recorded a population of approximately 33,183. The county seat is the city of Little Falls, which is also the largest city in the county.

Before European settlers arrived, the area was home to the Dakota and Ojibwa Native American tribes. The early European settlers were primarily French fur traders and explorers who arrived in the late 1700s and early 1800s. The area witnessed significant growth in settlement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. People moved to Morrison County for its abundant natural resources, including timber and fertile land for farming. Immigrants from Poland, Germany, and Scandinavia flocked to the region seeking new opportunities and fresh beginnings.

One fun fact about Morrison County is that it is home to the Charles Lindbergh House and Museum. Charles Lindbergh, the renowned aviator who was the first person to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1927, spent his childhood in the county's town of Little Falls. The house, which is now a museum, showcases his early life and achievements, offering a glimpse into the life of this important figure in American history.
