Todd County is a rural region in the great state of Minnesota, USA. Established on February 20, 1856, the county was named after John Blair Smith Todd, an American military officer who also served as a delegate from the Dakota Territory to the United States House of Representatives. Todd County is located in central Minnesota, with Long Prairie as its county seat.

The Sauk people originally inhabited the area, and European settlers began arriving in the 1850s. The settlers were mainly of German, Polish, and Swedish descent, contributing to the cultural fabric of the region.

One significant milestone in Todd County's history is the establishment of The Great Northern Railway in 1882, which helped boost the local economy and opened up vast opportunities for agriculture, commerce, and travel. The Great Northern Railway linked St. Paul, Minnesota to Seattle, Washington, and contributed to the expansion and settlement of the western portion of the United States.
