Webster County is located in the great state of Missouri and was officially established on March 3rd, 1855. It was named after the renowned statesman Daniel Webster, who served as a Secretary of State and U.S. Senator, and was also an influential orator and champion of constitutional principles.

The county has its roots in the rich history of Missouri and the United States. Prior to the arrival of European settlers, the region was inhabited by various Native American tribes, including the Osage and Kickapoo. Over time, more settlers were drawn to the fertile land of Webster County due to westward migration and the prospect of farming.

During the Civil War, the county was not immune to the conflict enveloping the nation, and it experienced guerilla warfare between conflicting Union and Confederate forces. The aftermath of the war saw a period of growth and development, with agriculture strengthening the economy, and the arrival of railroads connecting the region to major towns and cities.

Marshfield is the county seat of Webster County and is home to the historic Hubble Telescope. Fun fact: it is also birthplace of astronomer Edwin P. Hubble, who is renowned for his contributions to the field of astrophysics, particularly the discovery that the universe is expanding.

Today, Webster County continues to grow and prosper, maintaining a balance between its rural and agricultural roots, while simultaneously embracing modern development and technology. Its beautiful landscape, strong connections to American history, and vibrant communities make Webster County a unique and interesting region within the state of Missouri.
