Butler is a small town in Bates County, Missouri, in the United States. It has a population of approximately 4,000 people and covers an area of 4.06 square miles. The town is located about 60 miles south of Kansas City and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Butler was founded in 1858 and was named after William Orlando Butler, who served as a general in the Mexican-American War and was a candidate for the U.S. presidency in 1848. The town was initially a stop on the Osage Indian Trail, which later became the Osage Trace, a major trade route between Missouri and the southwest.
Today, the town of Butler provides a peaceful and friendly community with a range of amenities and attractions for residents and visitors.
