Daniels County is located in the northeastern region of the great state of Montana. Established on August 30, 1920, the county was named in honor of Mansfield A. Daniels, a prominent rancher and early settler in the area. The original settlers in the region were primarily cattle and sheep ranchers, and agriculture remains a significant industry in Daniels County to this day.

Scobey, the county seat, was founded in 1912 by William Scobey, for whom the town was later named. As the town flourished, it became the terminus of a branch line of the Great Northern Railway, contributing to its growth and development.

Daniels County covers an area of approximately 1,426 square miles and, as of the 2020 census, it had a population of around 1,762 residents. The region is characterized by its gently rolling plains, with numerous creeks and rivers running through it, including the Poplar River, Big Muddy Creek, and Whitetail Creek.
