Deer Lodge County is located in the southwestern region of the great state of Montana. With its county seat in the city of Anaconda, the county was established on February 2, 1865. The area has a rich history, particularly in mining, with the famous Anaconda Copper Mining Company operating in the county for much of the 20th century. The mining boom led to significant economic growth and the construction of the iconic Anaconda Smelter Stack, which is still present today.
