Valley County, located in the great state of Montana, was established on February 6, 1893. The county's area spans 5,062 square miles, making it one of the largest in the state. It is situated in northeastern Montana and shares its northern border with Canada. The county seat is Glasgow, which was established in 1887 when the Great Northern Railway made its way through Montana. Glasgow has since become the economic and retail center of the region.

Valley County is known for its rich history, as it played an important role in the settlement and development of Montana. The Old West was alive and well in the region, with cowboy life taking shape in the late 1800s. Ranching has been a significant part of the local economy ever since. Charles M. Russell, the famous western artist, started his artistic career while working as a cowboy in the Judith Basin.

Fun Fact: One unique aspect of Valley County is that it is home to the Montana Dinosaur Trail, with the Fort Peck Dam Interpretive Center and Museum located within the county. This museum features two replica skeletons of a Tyrannosaurus rex and a Triceratops, which were found in the area. In addition, the dramatic landscape of the area was shaped by the last Ice Age, which left behind a stunning collection of naturally formed "ice-locked" lakes, known as the Northeast Montana Lake Country.
