Graham County, located in the great state of North Carolina, was established on February 15, 1872. It was formed from parts of Cherokee County in the west and bordering Swain County in the east, covering a total area of 292 square miles. The county was named after William A. Graham, the 30th Governor of North Carolina who served from 1845-1849, and later as a U.S Senator from 1855-1861.

Nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, the region boasts spectacular landscapes such as the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Nantahala National Forest, and the Fontana Lake. Stecoah Gap, a popular landmark in the Appalachian Trail, also passes through Graham County. The county seat is Robbinsville, which hosts the annual Graham County Heritage Festival, highlighting the region's rich history and cultural heritage. The eastern band of the Cherokee Indians also contributes to the county's historical prominence.
