Bowman County is located in the southwestern region of the great state of North Dakota. It was established on March 8, 1907, from the southwestern part of Billings County, and officially organized on July 4, 1907. The county was named in honor of Edward M. Bowman, a member of the North Dakota House of Representatives during the time of the county's formation.

Covering an area of 1,167 square miles, Bowman County's economy primarily revolves around agriculture, with wheat being the dominant crop. The county is home to the beautiful Bowman-Haley Dam, which is a popular recreational and camping spot. The dam was constructed between 1967 and 1971, providing flood control, irrigation, and recreational opportunities.

A fun fact about this region is that the gas station in the small town of Rhame, in Bowman County, was once listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the only gas station to be located at or very close to the intersection of two US highways (US 12 and US 85).
