Logan County is located in the great state of North Dakota and played an important role in the state's history. The county was created on September 4, 1884, and later organized on November 6, 1884. It was named in honor of John A. Logan, a Civil War Union General and United States Senator from Illinois. The county jail is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

One interesting fact about Logan County is that it is home to the Napoleon Public School, which holds the distinction of being the first consolidated school in the state of North Dakota. The school was established in 1908 to serve the educational needs of students from the surrounding rural areas. This milestone in local history paved the way for the future development of education in the state, helping to create larger, more integrated schooling systems that could better serve the entire community.
