Arthur County, located in the Great Plains region of Nebraska, is the youngest and one of the least densely populated counties in the state. Established on March 12, 1913, the county was named after President Chester A. Arthur, the 21st President of the United States. Arthur County was organized by dividing portions from surrounding McPherson and Grant counties. The primary focus of the local economy has always been agriculture, primarily cattle ranching.

The town of Arthur serves as the county seat, and with its small population, Arthur County is often referred to as a true "frontier" area in Nebraska. The county is home to stunning landscapes that are typical of the Sandhills region, featuring rolling grassland hills and beautiful sand dunes covered in prairie grass.

One fun fact about Arthur County is that it holds the unique distinction of being the only county in Nebraska that has more square miles of land (about 713 square miles) than there are people living in it. With a population density of fewer than one person per square mile, Arthur County offers a picturesque and peaceful rural lifestyle.
