Cherry County, located in the great state of Nebraska, is the largest county in the state, covering an impressive 6,010 square miles. Established on February 23, 1883, the county was named after Lieutenant Samuel A. Cherry, an Army officer who died in an 1881 skirmish with Native Americans.
