Dodge County is located in the great state of Nebraska, USA. It was established on January 26, 1856, and is named in honor of Augustus C. Dodge, a former U.S. Senator from Iowa. Covering an area of 543 square miles, Dodge County's county seat and largest city is Fremont.

The area initially attracted settlers of European-American descent in the early 1850s. Many of these pioneers were drawn to Dodge County's rich soil and plentiful water resources for agriculture. In the early years, the economy was heavily dependent on farming, with crops like wheat and corn dominating the local agriculture scene.

One significant event in Dodge County's history was the establishment of Fremont Normal College and Business Institute in 1884. It provided higher education opportunities to students in the region. However, after several mergers and institutional changes, the college ultimately became Midland University in 1962.

A fun fact about Dodge County is that Hormel Foods, a renowned American food company, built its Fremont Plant in the county in 1941. This facility focused on the processing of pork products and, since its opening, has become one of the largest employers in the area.

Dodge County, with its rich agricultural history and vibrant community, continues to be a vital part of Nebraska's economy and cultural heritage.
