Morrill County, located in the panhandle of the great state of Nebraska, was founded in 1908, and it was named in honor of Charles Henry Morrill, a prominent businessman and an early leader in the development of the state. The county seat is Bridgeport. Before becoming an independently organized county, it was a part of Cheyenne County.

With a rich history that dates back further than its founding, the region is home to the Courthouse and Jail Rocks, which are iconic rock formations that were important landmarks along the Oregon, California, and Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trails. Pioneers traveling westward would often etch their names into these rocks, leaving their mark on the landscape.

One fun fact about Morrill County is that it is home to Chimney Rock National Historic Site, which is one of the most famous and recognizable landmarks for travelers along the Oregon, California, and Mormon Trail. Chimney Rock, a 325-feet sandstone formation that served as a natural beacon for pioneers, rise prominently from a flat terrain and can be seen from many miles away.
