Saunders County is located in the great state of Nebraska, USA. It was created on January 26, 1856, and was originally known as "Greenwood County," after a Methodist missionary named William W. Green. However, in 1862, the county was renamed "Saunders County" in honor of Alvin Saunders, who was the last territorial governor of Nebraska and later a US Senator.

The county seat is Wahoo, which is also the largest city in Saunders County. The area was primarily settled by European immigrants in the late 19th century, including a large number of Czech, Scandinavian, and German settlers. These diverse cultural backgrounds helped shape the rich heritage of the county.

Agriculture has played a significant role in the development of Saunders County, with corn, soybeans, and livestock being the leading products. The county is part of the gently rolling hills of Eastern Nebraska and has its share of scenic landscape, including numerous rivers, streams and lakes.

One fun fact about Saunders County is that famous baseball player, Sam Crawford, was born in Wahoo in 1880. He went on to have an impressive baseball career, playing for the Cincinnati Reds and the Detroit Tigers. Crawford was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1957, thus solidifying Wahoo and Saunders County's connection to American baseball history.
