Carroll County, located in the great state of New Hampshire, was established on December 22, 1840, after being separated from Strafford County. The county was named in honor of Charles Carroll, a Maryland statesman and signer of the Declaration of Independence. Covering an area of 992 square miles, it is situated in the northeastern part of the state and is bordered on the north by the White Mountains.

The region has always been a popular destination for tourists seeking to enjoy its natural beauty and landscape marked by mountains, lakes, and forests. Carroll County is home to a significant portion of the White Mountain National Forest, which provides ample recreational opportunities, including hiking, skiing, and sightseeing.

Carroll County has several small towns with rich histories, including Conway, the county's largest town, founded in 1765 by colonial governor Benning Wentworth. The county also includes the picturesque towns of Wolfeboro, Moultonborough, and Freedom, among others.

One fun fact about this region is the presence of the iconic Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 feet above sea level. The Mount Washington Cog Railway, the world's first mountain climbing train, has been in operation since 1869 and still carries visitors to the mountain's summit.
