Camden County, located in the great state of New Jersey, has a rich history that dates back to the 17th century. It was first settled by the Dutch in the 1620s, and by the mid-1660s, the English had taken control of the region, which then became part of the Province of West Jersey. The area was mostly agricultural, with small settlements and farming communities throughout the region.

Camden County was officially established on March 13, 1844, carved out from parts of Gloucester County. Its name was derived from Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden, who was a strong supporter of American independence during the American Revolution. The county seat was initially set in Camden, which quickly emerged as a significant hub due to its strategic location on the Delaware River, right across from Philadelphia.

The Industrial Revolution greatly contributed to Camden County's growth, with industries such as shipbuilding, textiles, and manufacturing contributing to the economic expansion during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Alongside this industrial development, immigration further added to the county's expansion, with Irish, German, Italian, and Eastern European immigrants joining in the community.

Today, Camden County is home to a diverse population and offers various attractions, such as the Adventure Aquarium, Battleship New Jersey, and the Scottish Rite Auditorium. It encompasses 37 municipalities, including the city of Camden, Cherry Hill, and Gloucester Township.

A fun fact about Camden County is that the world's first drive-in movie theater was opened in Pennsauken, a township of Camden County, in 1933. This innovative concept was invented by Richard M. Hollingshead Jr., and it became highly popular throughout the United States in the mid-20th century.
