Warren County, located in the northwestern part of the great state of New Jersey, was officially established on November 20, 1824. It was named after the Revolutionary War hero, Joseph Warren, who was also a physician and critical figure in the early years of the United States. The county is nestled within the scenic Skylands Region and has the Delaware River as its western border.

Before the arrival of European settlers, the area was inhabited by Native American tribes, primarily the Lenni Lenape; they called it "Minisink," meaning "at the waters in rocks." In the early 1700s, the region attracted Dutch and English settlers who focused on agriculture, milling, and ironmaking. The Morris Canal, completed in the 1830s, had a significant impact on the county's growth and brought prosperity to both industry and agriculture.

Warren County played a role in the Revolutionary War, with several battles taking place within its boundaries. It is also the birthplace of the "Honey and Locust" flag, one of many flags used by the New Jersey militia during the war. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the industrialization of the region accelerated, and its economy diversified, including lumbering, silk mills, and quarrying.

As for the fun fact, Warren County has the distinction of being home to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, a protected area of more than 70,000 acres that stretches along the Delaware River. This outdoor paradise offers numerous recreation opportunities for locals and tourists alike, including hiking, fishing, camping, and water rafting. The Delaware Water Gap also provides breathtaking views of waterfalls, mountains, and dense forests, showcasing the natural beauty of the region.
