Front of the US quarter dollar coin   New Jersey State Quarter

The New Jersey state quarter was designed by artist Gary C. Sussman and was released in 1999 as part of the U.S. Mint's 50 State Quarters Program. The design features a horse's head and a ring of 17 stars, representing New Jersey as the third state to ratify the Constitution. The horse head symbolizes the state's long equestrian tradition, while the 17 stars honor the state's nickname, "The Garden State". The reverse of the coin features the State Seal of New Jersey, which features a shield with a three plowed fields and two women, representing liberty and agriculture. The date reads 1787, the year New Jersey became a state.

The second New Jersey State Quarter

The New Jersey National Park Quarter was released in 2021 as part of the United States Mint's "America the Beautiful" Quarters Program. The New Jersey quarter features a design that honors Ellis Island, which was the gateway for millions of immigrants to the United States. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of George Washington, while the reverse of the coin depicts an immigrant family, as well as the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The design also includes the inscriptions "ELLIS ISLAND" and "NEW JERSEY."

The design of the New Jersey National Park Quarter is meant to represent the story of America's immigrants. Ellis Island was the first stop for many immigrants when they arrived in the United States. The Statue of Liberty, which is also featured on the quarter, is a symbol of freedom and has become an iconic symbol of the United States. The immigrant family depicted on the quarter is meant to represent the millions of immigrants who came to the United States in search of a better life.

The "America the Beautiful" Quarters Program was launched in 2010 by the United States Mint and features designs that celebrate America's national parks and other national sites. The program is meant to honor the natural and cultural heritage of the United States and to encourage Americans to visit and appreciate their national parks and other sites. The New Jersey National Park Quarter is the 36th coin in the series, and will be followed by quarter designs for Sarah Winnemucca National Historic Trail in Nevada, Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site in Alabama, and Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park in Vermont.
