Lincoln County, located in the southeastern region of Nevada, is a region steeped in history and natural beauty. Established in 1866, the county is named in honor of the 16th U.S. President, Abraham Lincoln. Initially, the county was part of Arizona Territory but was later annexed to Nevada when the two territories were separated.

In its early years, Lincoln County played a crucial role in mining, agriculture, and the development of the region. The county was home to a variety of mining industries, including silver, lead, zinc, and tungsten. The town of Pioche, Lincoln County's seat, prospered during the 19th century as it was the center of an active silver-mining district.

The construction of railways and water reservoirs facilitated the growth of Lincoln County, and by the 20th century, the county also became known for its livestock industry. Many of the ranches in Lincoln County date back to the late 1800s and are still in operation today.

As for natural beauty, Lincoln County has numerous outdoor attractions such as the Basin and Range National Monument, which was established in 2015. This vast expanse of desert landscape and mountain ranges covers over 1,100 square miles.

A fun fact about Lincoln County is that it's often associated with UFOs and extraterrestrial activity due to its close proximity to the famous, top-secret Area 51 military installation. While the county itself does not encompass Area 51, the nearby town of Rachel has become a tourist attraction for those interested in the mysteries surrounding the secret base.
