Carroll County is located in the eastern part of the great state of Ohio, USA. It was established on December 25, 1832, and was carved out from parts of Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, Stark, and Tuscarawas counties. The county was named in honor of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the last surviving member of that prestigious group.

Carroll County is predominantly known for its agriculture and, during the mid-19th to early 20th centuries, it thrived on coal mining. These mines greatly contributed to the economic growth of the region. Today, Carroll County is relatively small, predominantly rural, and is home to several villages, townships, and a few unincorporated communities.

One fun fact about Carroll County is that it is home to a piece of Ohio history in the form of the McCook House, a historic state memorial. The house belonged to the McCook family, which was locally known as the "Fighting McCooks," as nine members of the family served in the Civil War. The McCook House, located in Carrollton, is preserved and open to the public, providing an opportunity for visitors to explore the historic connection between Carroll County and the Civil War era.
