Crawford County is a located in the north-central part of the state of Ohio. It was established on February 12, 1820, from portions of Delaware, Marion, and Wayne Counties. The county was named in honor of Colonel William Crawford, a Revolutionary War soldier who fought extensively in the western frontiers of Pennsylvania and Ohio during the 18th century. Colonel Crawford also served under General George Washington during the French and Indian War.

The county seat of Crawford County is Bucyrus, which was officially established in 1821, just one year after the formation of the county. Bucyrus is known for its rich history in the manufacturing of toys and heavy equipment. As the county developed, agriculture and industry played central roles in its growth. The fertile soil in the region made it an ideal location for farming, while the Sandusky River provided a means of transporting goods to other regions.

A fun fact about Crawford County is that it is home to the annual Bratwurst Festival, which takes place in Bucyrus every summer. The three-day event celebrates the area's strong German heritage and the Bratwurst, a sausage that has become the signature specialty of Bucyrus. The festival features food, music, a parade, and various competitions, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
