Morrow County is located in the central part of the great state of Ohio. It was formed on February 24, 1848, and was named after Jeremiah Morrow, the 9th governor of Ohio and a U.S. Congressman.

The county was carved from the land of three neighboring counties: Richland, Delaware, and Knox Counties. Mount Gilead, the county seat, was incorporated in 1832 and was once a bustling hub for the surrounding agricultural communities.

Morrow County is known for its rich agricultural history, with fertile soil perfect for farming, thanks in part to the fertile glacial deposits left during the Ice Age. Agriculture and livestock remain an important part of the local economy and culture.

One fun fact about Morrow County is that it is home to the Pine Lakes Golf Club, the county's very first golf course, which opened in 1928. The 9-hole course was designed by well-known golf architect Tom Bendelow and continues to operate today, providing a challenging and enjoyable golfing experience for visitors and residents alike.
