Dewey County is a county located in the northwestern part of Oklahoma. It was named after William P. Dewey, a prominent attorney and politician who served as the ninth Governor of the state of Oklahoma.

Dewey County was officially established in 1892, when Oklahoma was still a territory. The county has a rich history that is closely tied to the history of the American West, with many early settlers coming to the area during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Over the years, the county has developed into a major center for agriculture, oil and gas production, and wind energy.

One fun fact about Dewey County is that it is home to the Dewey County Fair, one of the oldest and largest county fairs in Oklahoma. The fair, which has been held annually for more than a century, features a wide variety of events and activities, including livestock shows, rodeos, carnival rides, live music, and a variety of food and craft vendors. It is a beloved tradition in the community and a fun and festive way to celebrate the agricultural heritage of northwestern Oklahoma.
