Woods County is a county located in the northwestern part of the great state of Oklahoma. It was created in 1893 as part of the Cherokee Outlet land opening and officially became a county in 1907, the same year Oklahoma achieved statehood. The county seat is Alva, which is also the largest city in the county. Woods County has a rich history rooted in agriculture and cattle ranching, which continues to be integral to its economy even today.

One fun fact about Woods County is that it is home to the Alabaster Caverns State Park, which features the world's largest public gypsum cave. The cave is approximately 3/4-mile long and houses a variety of unique formations, such as stalactites, stalagmites, and other mineral deposits. Visitors can partake in guided cave tours and enjoy wildlife viewing, hiking, and camping in this beautiful park.
