Morrow County is located in the northeastern part of the great state of Oregon, USA. Established on February 16, 1885, the county was created out of the western part of Umatilla County and named after Jackson Lee Morrow, an important figure in the district. The county seat, Heppner, is named after a member of its founding family, Henry Heppner.

Morrow County is a diverse region that spans across an area of 2,049 square miles, encompassing portions of the Blue Mountain range, the Columbia River, and the Umatilla National Forest. The area's topography ranges from forested mountains and fertile agricultural valleys to meandering rivers and arid high desert landscapes.

Throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Morrow County thrived as an agricultural and timber-based economy. Positioned along the Oregon Trail, the county bears witness to the rich history of pioneers and settlers who traveled westward in search of a better life.

One fun fact about Morrow County is that the county's largest event, the Morrow County Fair and Rodeo, held annually in August, has been a major source of entertainment and community building for over 100 years. Another interesting fact is that the picturesque town of Boardman, located along the Columbia River, is home to the SAGE Center, an interactive museum that honors the area's agricultural history and innovations in sustainable energy.
