Clarion County is located in the northwestern region of the great state of Pennsylvania, USA. The county was formed on March 11, 1839, from parts of Venango and Armstrong Counties. The area is named after the Clarion River, which crosses through the county, originating from the joining of two rivers, Conewango Creek and Little Conewango Creek. In 1807, Alexander Rosborough officially named it "Clarion," after a distinct rock formation along its banks resembling a "clarion," an ancient trumpet-like instrument. The county occupies 610 square miles, with a population of approximately 39,000 as of 2019.

The county seat is the Borough of Clarion. Historically, this region was inhabited by the Lenape people, who were later displaced by European settlers in the 18th century. In the 19th and early 20th century, Clarion County experienced a boom in lumber and coal industries, which led to the growth of its settlements. To further drive economic growth, several railroads were constructed within the county, connecting local industries to other regions.

A fun fact about Clarion County is that every year since 1952, it hosts the Autumn Leaf Festival, a widely popular fall event that includes a parade, food, crafters, and live entertainment. The festival attracts approximately 500,000 visitors from all around the country and showcases the natural beauty of the region during the fall foliage season.
