Beadle County is located in the great state of South Dakota and was created in 1879. Named in honor of Brigadier General William H. H. Beadle, an influential figure in South Dakota history, the county became an official entity when the first county commissioners held a meeting in January 1880. Beadle has been recognized for his significant contributions to the early development of South Dakota's educational system, as well as his role in shaping land policies concerning the reservation of land for schools and public purposes.

The county seat, Huron, was established in 1881 following the arrival of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway. As the region's primary urban center, Huron saw rapid growth and development in the early years of the county's existence. Agriculture has played a vital part in the county's economy, with a wide variety of crops grown in the area such as corn, wheat, soybeans, and sunflowers. As time passed, other industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and retail are also contributing to the area's growth.

A fun fact about Beadle County is that it hosts the South Dakota State Fair, which has been held annually in Huron since 1885. The fair attracts visitors from across the state and beyond, showcasing agricultural production, entertainment, and various exhibits that highlight the culture, history, and talents of South Dakotans.
