Davison County is a county located in the southeastern part of South Dakota. It was named after Henry C. Davison, an American banker and philanthropist who served as the chairman of the American Red Cross during World War I.

Davison County was established in 1873, just a few years after the end of the American Civil War. It was initially organized as a part of the larger Aurora County but was later separated and became its own county. Over the years, the county has grown to become a major center of agriculture, with corn, soybeans, and wheat being the primary crops grown in the area.

One fun fact about Davison County is that it is home to the Mitchell Corn Palace, a unique building covered in murals made entirely of corn and other grains. The Corn Palace was first built in 1892 as a way to showcase the agricultural bounty of the region, and it has since become a popular tourist attraction. Every year, the Corn Palace is redecorated with a new theme and new murals made from thousands of bushels of corn, grains, and grasses. It is one of the most iconic landmarks in South Dakota and draws visitors from all over the world.
