Bledsoe County is located in the southeastern part of Tennessee, in the beautiful Cumberland Plateau region. It was established on November 20, 1807, and named after Anthony Bledsoe, an influential frontier leader, Revolutionary War officer, and a state legislator in Sumner County. The county seat is Pikeville.

Bledsoe County played a significant role during the Civil War. In 1863, a major conflict occurred in the county when Colonel John T. Wilder's Union brigade marched from McMinnville to seize Pikeville's Graysville mill and cattle. The Cumberland Plateau's terrain was vital for the Confederate and Union troops, as it provided a natural defensive barrier.

A fun fact about Bledsoe County is the existence of the beautiful Fall Creek Falls State Park, which is home to the highest waterfall in the eastern United States, with a 256-foot drop. The park offers various recreational activities and attracts thousands of tourists every year. Fall Creek Falls State Park is an outstanding representation of the region's natural beauty and is a primary source of recreational and environmental value.
