Bradley County, located in the southeastern region of the great state of Tennessee, was established in 1836. The county was named in honor of Col. Edward Bradley, who was a veteran of the War of 1812 and an early settler in the area. With Cleveland as its county seat, Bradley County is part of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County-North Georgia Transportation Planning Organization Metropolitan Planning Organization (TPO MPO) and the Chattanooga metropolitan area.

The development of the county was heavily influenced by its location along the Old Federal Road, which connected Ross's Landing in Chattanooga to Knoxville. This transportation route allowed the economy to flourish, particularly in the cotton trade. During the Civil War, the area played host to several skirmishes and encampments.

One notable historical event associated with Bradley County is the Cherokee Removal, also known as the Trail of Tears. During the 1830s, the U.S. government forced thousands of Cherokee Indians out of their native lands, including areas within Bradley County, forcing them to relocate to present-day Oklahoma. Today, the Red Clay State Historic Park, located at the border of Bradley County and neighboring Hamilton County, represents the last Cherokee council grounds before their removal along the Trail of Tears.

A fun fact about Bradley County is that it's home to one of the largest manufacturers of Little Debbie snack cakes, McKee Foods Corporation, which is a major employer in the area and contributes significantly to the local economy.
