.Cannon County is a rural county located in the great state of Tennessee, United States. It was established on January 31, 1836, and named in honor of Governor Newton Cannon who served as the Governor of Tennessee from 1835 to 1839. The county seat and largest city is Woodbury.
Cannon County's terrain primarily consists of rolling hills and valleys, with the beautiful Cumberland Plateau bordering the eastern part of the county. The area was traditionally inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Cherokee, Chickasaw, and Creek, before settlers of European descent arrived in the late 18th century.
