Marshall County is located in the great state of Tennessee, USA. Established in 1836, the county was named in honor of John Marshall, a prominent American statesman who served as the fourth Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1801 until his death in 1835.

Originally, the land that forms Marshall County was part of the Chickasaw and Cherokee hunting grounds. White settlers began to arrive in the area during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and by the 1820s, the land had been ceded to the United States. Marshall County was created from portions of existing adjacent counties, including Maury, Lincoln, Rutherford, and Bedford.

The county seat of Marshall County is Lewisburg, which was also established in the 1830s. Lewisburg was named after Meriwether Lewis, an explorer and leader of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The city's growth was facilitated by the construction of the Nashville & Decatur Railroad, contributing to its development as an important regional hub.

Marshall County has a rich agricultural history, with crops like corn, wheat, and soybeans being historically important to the region's economy. In addition to agriculture, the county has developed a diverse industrial base, including automotive manufacturing and other industries. Over the years, Marshall County has also been home to several historic sites and events, reflecting its culturally rich heritage.

Fun Fact: Marshall County is home to the Goats, Music, and More Festival, an annual event that combines live music, arts & crafts, delicious food, and goat shows to promote the county's Goat Capital of the World status. This unique festival is held in Lewisburg and usually takes place in October, attracting visitors from all around the country.
