McNairy County is a county located in the southwestern part of the state of Tennessee, USA. It was established in 1823 and was named after John McNairy, who was a federal judge in Tennessee. The county's history is closely tied to the development of the region's agriculture and industry.

The area that is now McNairy County was originally inhabited by various Native American tribes, including the Chickasaw and the Choctaw. In the 19th century, European-American settlers began to arrive in the area, drawn by the opportunities for farming and timber production.

One fun fact about McNairy County is that it is home to the historic Buford Pusser Home and Museum.
