Van Buren County is located in the central part of the great state of Tennessee. Established on January 24, 1840, the county was named in honor of Martin Van Buren, the eighth President of the United States who was serving his term during the time of the county's formation. The county seat and its largest city is Spencer, which was incorporated in 1909.
