Wilson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee, within the Nashville metropolitan area. Established officially on October 26, 1799, Wilson County was named in honor of Major David Wilson, a prominent figure in Revolutionary War-era North Carolina, though he did not actually reside in Tennessee. The county was formed from portions of Sumner County and the now-defunct Tennessee County.

Lebanon, the largest city in Wilson County, serves as the county seat. Other notable cities in the area include Mt. Juliet and Watertown. The landscape of Wilson County is characterized by a blend of rural, suburban, and commercial land uses, including farming, industry, and residential communities.

A major transportation route, the Cumberland River, cuts through the county, historically serving as a vital waterway for travelers, trade, and communication. Additionally, the Tennessee Central Railway, which connected the region to the broader state and beyond, was crucial in shaping the historical and commercial development of Wilson County.

One fun fact about Wilson County is that it is home to the Lebanon Cedar Forest, the only active stand of cedar trees in the state. This forest is managed by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and has been designated as a State Natural Area. The cedar trees in the forest are reputed to be over 200 years old, and they lend the city of Lebanon (the "Cedar City") its name.
