Falls County, located in the great state of Texas, was established on January 28, 1850, and was named after the Falls of the Brazos River, a natural waterfall on the Brazos River. The county is situated in Central Texas, covering approximately 774 square miles. Its county seat is Marlin, which was selected in 1851.

Prior to the arrival of Europeans, Falls County was home to various Native American tribes, including the Tawakoni, Waco, and Tonkawa. In the 1820s, Mexican colonizer Stephen F. Austin helped bring the first white settlers to the region, primarily for ranching and farming due to its fertile soil.

During the 19th century, the settlement grew as new towns were established, and the population boomed around the 1880s with the introduction of the railroad, which brought even more settlers to the county. The region's economy primarily revolved around agriculture and cattle ranching, with cotton and corn as key crops.

A fun fact about Falls County is the presence of the famous Hot Wells or Mineral Wells in Marlin. Discovered in the late 19th century, the hot springs turned Marlin into a burgeoning health resort town. The 19th-century health-conscious individuals flocked to the town to take advantage of the hot mineral water, which was believed to have therapeutic benefits. The Marlin Sanitarium became a prestigious health facility, attracting patients and visitors from all over the country.
