Parker County is located in the great state of Texas and was founded on December 12, 1855. It was named in honor of Isaac Parker, a state legislator who had introduced the bill to establish the county. With a rich history that dates back to the early settlers and Native American inhabitants, Parker County has contributed significantly to the development of the region.

Parker County is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area, more commonly known as the DFW Metroplex, and it covers a land area of 910 square miles. The county seat is the city of Weatherford, which was incorporated in 1858 and quickly became a thriving trade center. As the region evolved, so did its economy, shifting from an agricultural base to featuring industries such as natural gas extraction, mineral mining, and manufacturing.

During the American Civil War, Parker County was torn between Confederate and Union sympathies, leading to a tense political atmosphere. Texas was a Confederate state, but there were pockets of Union supporters in the region as well. After the war, Parker County experienced economic growth, largely driven by the expansion of the railroad network through Weatherford, which helped establish the county as a vital transportation and trade hub.

One fun fact about Parker County is that it hosts the annual Parker County Peach Festival in Weatherford, which has been celebrated for over 30 years. This popular event, held each July, brings locals and tourists together to celebrate the area's delicious peaches through a variety of peach-themed activities, food, arts and crafts, and live entertainment. The Peach Festival is now considered one of the largest and most successful festivals in the state of Texas.
