Trinity County, located in the great state of Texas, was officially established on February 11, 1850. The county was named after the Trinity River, which runs through it. The river itself was named 'La Santisima Trinidad' by Spanish explorer Alonso De Len in the late 17th century, which translates to 'The Most Holy Trinity.' The county seat is Groveton, and the largest city is Trinity.

During its early history, Trinity County was home to Native American tribes such as the Bidai, Coushatta, and Alabama peoples. After Texas declared independence from Mexico in 1836, the region began to see an influx of settlers, and in the 1850s, white and black settlers began to arrive in increasing numbers.

Throughout the 19th century, the economy of Trinity County was primarily driven by agriculture, specifically cotton production. However, the construction of the Houston East and West Texas Railway in 1881 brought substantial growth to the county, enabling lumber, livestock, and poultry industries to flourish alongside agriculture.

Moving into the 20th century, the construction of Camp Ruby, a Civilian Conservation Corps camp, in 1933 helped provide employment opportunities during the Great Depression. Post-World War II, the timber, oil, and gas industries boomed in Trinity County, diversifying its economy.
