Webb County, located in the great state of Texas, was established on January 28, 1848. It is situated in the southern part of the state, and it is part of the South Texas region. Webb County was named after James Webb, who was an accomplished lawyer, judge, and politician during the Republic of Texas era.

Laredo, the county seat and largest city in Webb County, was founded by Don Tomas Sanchez in 1755, making it one of the oldest crossing points along the Rio Grande River. As a trade and transportation hub, Laredo played a significant role throughout the regions' history, especially due to its strategic location near the Mexican border.

Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the economy in Webb County has primarily focused on agriculture, ranching, and trade. The discovery of oil in the 1920s and the establishment of the World Trade Bridge in Laredo in the late 20th century led to significant economic growth and development within the county.

One fun fact about Webb County is that it is home to the Laredo Lemurs, a minor league baseball team that played in the United League from 2012 to 2016. Their unique mascot, which is a lemur named Louie, represents the quirkiness and spirit of the community.
