Rich County is located in the northeastern part of the great state of Utah. Established on January 16, 1864, the county was named in honor of Charles C. Rich, an early leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (also known as the Mormon Church). The county is bordered by the states of Idaho to the north and Wyoming to the east, as well as other Utah counties to the south and west. It spans approximately 1,086 square miles in area, with a population of around 2,500 residents.

Rich County has a rich history that dates back before its establishment, as it was once an important location for the Native American Shoshone tribe. The area was later visited by fur trappers and traders due to the abundance of wildlife. The Mormon pioneers, led by Charles C. Rich, arrived in the 1860s and began to establish settlements, including Paris, Garden City, and Laketown, which are still established towns in the county today.

One interesting aspect of Rich County is its unique natural attractions. Bear Lake, a large freshwater lake that covers approximately 109 square miles, is often referred to as the "Caribbean of the Rockies" due to its vibrant turquoise-blue waters. This is a result of the lake's limestone deposits, which cause sunlight to refract and create the distinct color. Bear Lake is a popular destination for boating, fishing, and various water sports, as well as the annual Bear Lake Raspberry Days festival, which celebrates the area's raspberry harvest.
