Accomack County is a county located on the eastern shore of the state of Virginia, USA. It was established in 1634 and was one of the eight original shires of Virginia. The county's history is closely tied to the Chesapeake Bay and the maritime industries that have flourished in the region.

The area that is now Accomack County was once inhabited by various Native American tribes, including the Accomac and the Chesepian. In the 17th century, English settlers began to arrive in the area, and the county was established as part of the Virginia Colony.

One fun fact about Accomack County is that it is home to the oldest continuous court records in the United States. The county's court records date back to 1632, when a court was first established in the area. The records provide a fascinating glimpse into the daily lives of the county's residents over the past four centuries, including details about court cases, property transactions, and other legal matters. The records are now housed at the Eastern Shore of Virginia Historical Society, which is located in the town of Onancock.
