Chittenden County, Vermont
.Chittenden County, located in the northwestern part of the great state of Vermont, is the state's most populous county, and home to Burlington, the largest city in Vermont. The county was created on October 22, 1787, and named after Vermont's first governor, Thomas Chittenden.
The region's history dates back to the 17th century when French explorers, led by Samuel de Champlain, first arrived in the area. The French controlled the region until it was ceded to the British after the French and Indian War (1754-1763). During the American Revolution, parts of Chittenden County witnessed key military events, such as the Battle of Shelburne, which was fought on October 18, 1813.
